1Empty the glove box

Open the glove box and take everything out. This makes it light enough to lower without anything falling out.
A little guidance for your next fix. Follow these steps to cabin air filter replacement for your Toyota Camry.

A dirty cabin air filter causes weak airflow from the vents, musty smells when the A/C runs, and windows that fog up and clear slowly. Toyota recommends checking it about every 15,000 miles. On the 2018–2024 Camry it sits behind the glove box, so you can swap it in about ten minutes without any tools.

Open the glove box and take everything out. This makes it light enough to lower without anything falling out.

On the right side of the glove box there's a thin damper arm (the piece that makes it open slowly). Slide its end off the small peg on the glove box wall. It just pulls off sideways; you don't need to pry it.

Press the left and right sides of the glove box inward at the same time. This moves the stops past the dash opening, and the glove box swings all the way down. It stays attached at the bottom hinges.

Behind the glove box you'll see a rectangular plastic cover, about 9 inches wide. Squeeze the tabs on each side and pull the cover toward you.

Pull the old filter straight out toward you. Keep it level so the debris stays on it. Before you set it aside, note which way the “AIR FLOW ↓” arrow points.

Slide the new filter in with the airflow arrow pointing down. Push it in until it sits flush. If it catches, flex it slightly; don't force it, then reassemble in reverse order: cover, glove box, damper arm.
